street art
"Look what I found!"
"AHHHHH! HELP ME!"
"Just chillin' in the water."
"Watch out, there's a big hole right there."
This art is so amazing and I can't believe that it's all hand drawn with chalk. The most I can do with a stick of chalk is draw a flower on my driveway. I can't believe how long this must have taken them to draw. The best part is seeing the people's reactions who are walking by and the ones who don't want to get too close for fear of falling down into the abyss. I had the scond picture as my wallpaper on my computer at home and my brothers thought it was real and my littlest brother was a little frightened that I had a picture of a man falling as my background. For more pictures, click here. Leave me some comments and tell me which ones are your favorites.

Musicals
Last January, for one of my Christmas presents, I got to go and see The Lion King when it came to town. I was so excited and the music and acting definately lived up to everything I had hoped it would be! It was so powerful with all of the African music and the drums with the dancing with the classic lyrics that everyone knows from the original movie. The Lion King is my favorite Disney movie and getting to see it on Broadway was so amazing! Of course, starting the play with The Circle of Life just takes your breath away. It is so amazing and you don't want to blink, too afraid that you would miss something. Then, after we came back from intermission, that was the second best part (the opening scene wins best part). When we came back, we sat down on our asile seats and the next thing we know, there is an African woman standing next to us on the asile with paint on her face and traditional clothing, waving a bird above us on a long stick. It was amazing and would take your breath away. They were singing a song called One by One. It was so cool and right then, I stopped complaining about the seats we got.
I also got to see Mamma Mia! when it came to town, at the same theater. That one was equally as amazing as The Lion King. It's really hard to explain because you just have to experience it for yourself. The thrill of going to the theater is just amazing. Then when the lights go down, and the actors and actresses come out onto stage and start to sing, it gives me goosebumps. Mamma Mia! was amazing. I was really surprised that such a little girl playing Sophie, could have such a big voice that carried all throughout the theater. I don't think she even needed the microphone. Then the set they had is a whole other story. The set for both plays was amazing. When they brought out pride rock for The Lion King...I was shocked at how big it was and then it would spin! When Scar and Simba fought at the top at the end, I thought someone was going to fall because, 1. they were fighting to the death, 2. they were on top of a tall rock, and 3. the rock was spinning! Then, for the Mamma Mia! set, they had a "house" that looked like it was straight from the movie! They were able to make every scene revolve around that one little house and it worked for every scene! I can't wait to go back to the theater in March to see Next to Normal! Don't worry, I will definately be telling you all about Next to Normal as soon as I go see it!

Song: Run Away With Me
I know I talked about this song in yesterday's post but I have been listening to it more and more so I decided to give it it's own post. Run Away With Me is one of those songs that just makes me want to cry when I listen to it, not because it's sad but because I want this song to be my life. I want some guy to come to my window and ask me to run away with him. It's a song that makes me cry because I wish that this would happen to me. Here are the lyrics:
Run Away With Me
Let me catch my breath--this is really hard
If I start to look like I'm sweating, well that's cause I am
I'm not good with words, but that's nothing new
Still, I have to try to explain what I want to do...with you
If you run away with me, let me be your ride out of town
Let me be the place that you hide; we can make our lives on-the-go
Run away with me; Texas in the summer's cool
We'll be on the road like Jack Kerouac
Looking back, Sam, you're ready; let's go anywhere
Get the car packed and throw me the key; run away with me
Sam, I know it's fast; I'm in love with you
Sam, it's crazy but Sam, I'm crazier for you
I have these plans, Sam, I have these plans
Of a house that we build on the bay when we run away
Let me be your ride out of town; let me be the place that you hide
We can make our lives on-the-go; run away with me
Alabama heat--sign me up
We'll be on the road like some country song; won't be long
Sam, you're ready, let's go...anywhere
Get the car packed and throw me the key; run away with me
I'm not trying to make you a wife here
I'm not trying to tie you down
I'm just saying there might be a life here--
A new one as soon as we run, just as soon as we run, run away
Let me be your ride out of town; let me be the place that you hide
We can make our lives on-the-go; run away with me
Mississippi mud-- watch me slide
We'll be on the road like Jack Kerouac
Looking back; Sam, you're ready, Sam
Let me be your ride out of town; run away with me
California dreams here we come
Romeo is calling for Juliet
Ready, set, Sam, you're ready
Let's go...anywhere
Say the word and I'm already there
Run away with me
Now can you see why it makes me cry? For all the ladies reading this, hang in there. I'm pretty sure all of you want this to happen just as much as I do. And for all the guys out there, don't hesitate, we are waiting for you and girls don't wait forever.
If you are looking into buying this song on iTunes, type in Run Away With Me and if I'm not mistaking, it's the first one. Anyway, it's the one sung by Josh Young. I know, it's not quite as good as the video of Aaron Tveit singing it, but I usually end up shouting the lyrics at the top of my lungs so I can't here him singing anyway. I did a little bit of research and figured out that this song is also in a musical called The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown. This musical is a brand new musical that hasn't even hit Broadway yet but I have a feeling that it won't take long for it to get there. If you want to know more about The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown, go to google and type it in and click on the first site that says Broadway. Nothing else, just Broadway and you can read about the musical and listen to the music.
Well, this is possibly my new favorite song. And guess what...I ALREADY HAVE IT MEMORIZED! Which means I have already listened to is about fifty times in two days and it still hasn't gotten old! Love it! Leave me some comments on what you think of this song! But if you are going to leave one that says you don't like it, please save me the trouble of beating you up and just don't write anything. Thanks! :)

Video: Aaron Tveit singing Run Away With Me
This video is my new favorite YouTube video. Aaron Tveit is the cutest person I have ever seen! Especially when he sings Run Away With Me. If you watch it, watch his facial expressions. They are so cute! Then, when you are done drooling over him in that video, watch him sing Along the Way. It is so funny! And watch his face in that one too, because he is so so so adorable!

Musical: Next to Normal
I haven't seen the musical...yet. I am hoping to see it soon when it comes to town but that's not for a while, so I guess I am just going to write on what I already know about it. Next to Normal is a story about a dysfunctional family. There is a mom, Diana, played by Alice Ripley; a dad, Dan, played by J. Robert Spencer; a daughter, Natalie, played by Jennifer Damiano; and a son, Gabe, played by the hottie himself, Aaron Tveit. The whole story gets a little confusing until you find out that the son, Gabe, is actually dead and the mother is just imagining him being there. That's where the whole dysfunctional family part comes into play here. The son died when he was only a year and a half. Ever since, Diana, the mother, has been watching him "grow up", because she won't let him go. Diana is the only one in her family that has these hallucinations and she goes to therapy to discuss her problems with letting go of her son. That's where her doctor comes into play. Diana talks to Gabe as if he were really there. Diana not wanting to let Gabe go isn't the only problem, Gabe doesn't want his mother to let go, that's why he stays with her all the time. He doesn't want to be forgotten.
Then there's Natalie. Natalie and Diana don't have a good relationship because Diana is so wrapped up in staying with Gabe. Natalie was born to replace the loss of their son, so therefore, she doesn't care for her parents too much. Rather, Natalie spends most of her time with her best friend and boyfriend, Henry, played by Adam Chandler-Berat. Natalie has a really rough life and personally I feel really bad for her because her mother doesn't notice her or pay her any attention. That's when Natalie starts getting into clubs and drugs.
I don't want to completely ruin the story and get it wrong so I am going to stop there until I actually see the musical and then I will come back and add to it. But one thing I know really well about this musical is the music itself. I have the complete original Broadway cast recording version of the soundtrack and I listen to it almost everyday. This is the list of songs:

Music Artist: Michael Buble
Michael Buble is my favorite artist. His music is amazing and his voice is even better. When he sings his version of Fever...oh my god it's the sexiest thing I have ever heard. Fever is one of my favorite songs along with Moondance and Everything. Everything is such a cute song and no matter what is going on in my life, this song always makes me smile.
Michael's newest album, Crazy Love, is on tour right now and I would give almost anything to go to one concert of his. I would have to say that his most popular song right now is Haven't Met You Yet. It's the only Michael Buble song I have ever heard on the radio. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love that song, but I wish they would play more of his songs on the radio than just that one.
The song I was talking about before, Everything, is a love song (like most of his songs). It's a song about how perfect the girl is and how she's everything to him. Here are the lyrics so you can see how adorable this song is!
"Everything"
You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.
And you play it coy but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend that you don't know it's true.
'cause you can see it when I look at you.
[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.
And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.
[Chorus]
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
So, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
This song is from the Call Me Irresponsible album if anyone was wondering! Has anyone heard his new song Hollywood? I love it! It is (in my opinion) one of his best songs yet! I can't wait to buy it on iTunes. I listen to his music until I have all the words memorized and I have a bad memory so you can only imagine how many times I listen to his music. Leave me some comments and let me know what you think of Michael Buble, especially if you hadn't heard of him before this blog post!

Book/Movie: Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief
WARNING: If you haven't read Percy Jackson and the Olympians yet STOP reading this blog post and go read those books. Really, stop because I don't want to ruin the story for anyone.
Percy Jackson is my second favorite story book character. I would say he's my favorite but that spot, I'm afraid will always be Harry Potter's spot. I absolutely love Percy though don't get me wrong. The books are amazing and Rick Riordan, like J.K. Rowling, is one of my many heroes just for writing these amazing books. I have only read the first and second books so far but I can't wait to read them all. I'm sure that just like reading Harry Potter I will try to drag out each book as much as possible so they won't end. I love the books because they are so adventurous and they have a little bit of mystery in them and there is always something going on and you can't stop reading one you've started.
I can't decide which book I like better. They were both amazing but I can't pick a favorite yet because I haven't read them all. I will continue to update this particular post as I read all the books and hopefully watch more Percy Jackson movies (assuming they make a movie for each book).
The movie was good and my favorite part of the movie was staring at two hours of Logan Lerman. Lerman is, I must say pretty sexy! He is technically supposed to be a twelve year old boy in the book. I think we can all tell that he's not exactly twelve in the movie. But that didn't stop me from watching it a million times! As for following the book, it gets a D+ in that category. The movie didn't really follow the book very well at all. The beginning of the movie went with the beginning of the book pretty well but as they got towards the middle of the movie, things started going different ways and then the whole idea changed. In the book, they are just trying to get to the underworld but in the movie they are on a quest to find the pearls to get out of the underworld.
I mean, no wonder the movie was so amazing, the guy who directed Percy Jackson directed the first Harry Potter movie so I guess he is just amazing! If I could talk to the director, I would highly encourage him to make more Percy Jackson movies. I would love to see what they come up with for the second movie because after reading the book, I think the movie would be pretty damn awesome. I would just like to know (if they make a second movie) how are they going to make the cyclops?
Rick Riordan has already started another series and I am so excited to read those books too! I am going to be busy with books this year! His new series is called The Heroes of Olympus. According to the Barnes and Noble website summary...there are some familiar faces in the book. They are about three kids (no, not the three you are thinking of) who are taken away to Camp Half-Blood and don't know what's going on. That's all the summary said so I really need to finish the Percy series so I can go out and buy those books!

Well, for all you Percy lovers out there, leave me some comments!

Song: Love You More
I have recently discovered this song called Love You More by a group called Racoon. I saw the group name and honestly I was a little worried because I didn't know what kind of music a group called Racoon would have. But then I listened to the song and I fell in love! It is such a cute song and I could listen to it all day. I know it's not as good as listening to the song but here are the lyrics:
Love You More by Racoon
Clouds above go sailing by
I found my meaning in this life
clear white is flying in my eyes,
underneath a blue, blue sky
The waves come rolling in with the tide.
I've been away too long
and everyday I missed you more.
You look like you did before
only prettier.
Everyday I love you more.
All the people rushing by, by, by
looking for meaning in this life
so used up, and blinded by lies,
They're underneath the blue, blue sky
the way they seldom seem to smile
I don't know why.
'Cause I've been away too long
and everyday I missed you more.
You look like you did before,
only prettier.
Everyday I love you more.
I love you more,
everday I love you more,
and more.
Cause I've been away too long
and everyday I missed you more.
You look like you did before,
only prettier.
And everyday I missed you more,
and more and more and more and more.
I've been away too long
and everyday I missed you more
oh you look like you did before
only prettier
everyday I love you more.
I love you more.
Everyday I love you more
Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of the song!

Book/Movie Series: Harry Potter
WARNING: If any of you reading this haven't read the Harry Potter Series yet, you need to stop reading this blog post and go read Harry Potter. Really if you haven't read the books yet stop reading here because I don't want to spoil the story for anyone.
I could go on forever talking about Harry Potter. He is my favorite story book character and this series is definitely one of my favorites. My mom used to read them to my sister and I when we were little and they had just come out. I remember going to the bookstore with my mom and buying the second book when it was brand new. J.K. Rowling is, of course, one of my heroes just for writing these books and I admire her greatly. I reread all seven books last school year and I didn't want to stop reading. I would drag out each book as long as possible because I didn't want it to end. And yes, I will admit I did cry at the end of the seventh book a couple of times. If anyone thinks they can just watch the movies and think they are as good as the books, they are oh so wrong. First off, if you want to understand half the things that go on in the movies, you have to read the books. The movies are good but they tend to leave out little details that are rather important and are only told in the books. The fifth movie is a good example of this. I went to see the fifth movie before I had read the book and I hated the movie because I didn't understand anything. But then, I read the fifth book and watched the movie after and it became one of my favorite movies because I knew what was going on. I'm not saying I don't like the movies because I really do like the movies, I'm just saying they aren't nearly as good as the books. The fun part about the movies, though, is watching the characters grow up. Go to Google images and type in Harry Potter now and then. You will get some of the cutest pictures ever! They compare the first movie with the last one and you can see how much the three main characters have grown.
As I said earlier, I prefer the books over the movies because in the books, they add in all of the little details and they give so much more than the movie. And also when you are reading the books, you can decide what everything and everyone is going to look like whereas in the movie everything looks different than what you imagined. See, in my head, Cedric Diggory looked nothing like Rob Pattinson. But then again, that's not how I pictured Edward Cullen in my head either when I read Twilight. I always seem to think I am right when I picture these things in my head and that's the way they have to be in the movie. Then I blame everything on the director when nothing looks the way I pictured it.
Another thing to love about Harry Potter is the music in the movies! I love love love the music in the movies. We got to play the music for a band concert once and I absolutely loved it! I can't believe I am writing this online for the world to see, but my little brother and I used to go outside in the backyard and find good sticks to make into wands and then we would have Harry Potter duels in the backyard. Then, we would find bigger sticks to use as brooms and would get a soccer ball out and run around on sticks throwing a soccer ball around, playing Quidditch. My mom would get "mad" at us when we used the Avada Kedavra (killing curse) on each other.
I don't like to play favorites, but I am going to. I think the third book is my favorite. Which was surprising to me when I read it, because that was one of my least favorite movies. I don't have a least favorite book because they were all amazing, it's just that the third one was really good. My favorite of the movies would have to be...I don't know. I like the first one because it's a classic. I like the second one because of the intensity at the end with the basilisk. I think the third one is ok but not the best because it's kinda boring. The only thing I really like about the third one is when Harry meets Sirius for the first time. I love the fourth one because 1) Cedric Diggory and 2) the competition and the maze at the end is scary the first few times you see it. I didn't like the fifth movie until I read the book, because you didn't know what was going on in the movie until you read the book and it explained everything. But after I read the book, the fifth movie became one of my absolute favorites. I liked the sixth one, but was a little disappointed by the lack of detail. I do realize that if they had added all the details, the movie would have been like four hours long, so I think they did good with the allotted time. Well after reading all of my movie critiques, you can probably only imagine how excited I am for the seventh movie: part one to come out. I really wish that they didn't have to spread out the dates between the seventh part one and two so much because I am the kind of person that will forget everything like a day after I see it.
Well that's that for now. Comment on my Harry Potter loving, and if you're a Harry Potter hater...oh wait there's no such thing! :) Leave me some comments!

Conversation between 7 year old brother and 19 year old sister
This was a conversation between my 7 year old brother, Colton, and my 19 year old sister, Courtney. I found this conversation rather funny. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of it!
Colton: Hey Courtney?
Courtney: Yes, Colton?
Colton: Courtney, can boys marry boys?
Courtney: Yes Colton.
Colton: *thinks*
Colton: Hey Courtney?
Courtney: Yes Colton?
Colton: Can girls marry girls?
Courtney: Yes Colton.
Colton: *thinks for a longer time*
Colton: Wow, if a girl married a girl, they would have a LOT of babies!
Courtney: ...yes Colton.

Goodnight Moon...Harry Potter Style
This was the original book that everyone knows from their childhood, Goodnight Moon, written by Margaret Wise Brown, but I put a twist on the book. This is Goodnight Moon with Harry Potter spells added in. Read through it and tell me what you think!
In the great green room
There was a telephone, Accio Telephone!
And a red balloon
And a picture of-
The cow jumping over the moon, Expecto Patronum!
And there were three little bears sitting on chairs
And two little kittens
And a pair of mitt-STUPEFY!
And a little toy house
And a young mouse, AVADA KADAVRA!
A comb and brush
And a bowl full of mush
And a quiet old lady
Whispering "hush," Quietus.
Goodnight room
Goodnight moon
Goodnight cow jumping over the moon
Goodnight light, lumos, and the red balloon, Wingardium Leviosa.
Goodnight bears, goodnight chairs
Goodnight kittens, goodnight mittens, Rictusempra.
Goodnight clocks, goodnight socks
Goodnight little house, goodnight mouse
Goodnight comb, goodnight brush
Goodnight nobody, goodnight mush, Obliviate
And goodnight to the old lady whispering "hush"
Goodnight stars, goodnight air
Goodnight noises everywhere
I solemnly swear that I'm up to no good.

Book: The Weight of Silence
The Weight of Silence, written by Heather Gudenkauf, is a story about a small girl named Callie, who lives in Iowa. Callie is what they call a selective mute, meaning, she can talk, but she chooses not to. The book starts off with Callie waking up in the middle of the night needing to go to the bathroom, but she doesn't want to because her father, Griff, is downstairs where the only bathroom is. Callie doesn't want to go by her father because she knows he is only going to try to make her talk. Griff is an alcoholic and I think it was his fault that Callie doesn't talk anymore. When Callie was younger, her mother, Antonia, was pregnant and Griff got mad at her and pushed her down the stairs. Callie started screaming and crying and Griff yelled at her to stop and she did. And she never spoke again.
Callie finally decides to go downstairs very quietly and try to sneak into the bathroom. Of course, her father catches her and starts talking to her kindly at first and then gets angry at her refusal to speak. Griff takes her outside, dragging Callie by the arm and heads for the forest. Callie knows the forest well because that's where she chooses to spend most of her time with her older brother, Ben. While walking to the forest, Callie's friend Petra sees them walking and runs outside to try and catch up. Skipping forward a little bit, Callie and Griff get lost in the forest and Callie takes this chance to try and run away from Griff. She doesn't get too far the first time, but tries again and manages to lose her father for a while.
Petra is still trying to follow them, when she gets lost in the forrest by herself. The next morning, Antonia realizes that Callie is gone and calls everyone asking if they had seen her. Griff was supposed to be on a fishing trip but they thought that he was still there and not with Callie. The search is on to find the two missing girls. Everyone gets involved and search parties are sent out. Callie hears people calling her name in the forrest but doesn't approach them because she knows they will try to take her to her father. Sheriff Louis gets involved and I really liked his character because he was really nice and did all he could to find the girls. Louis and Antonia had a past together. They were high school sweethearts and Griff was convinced that Callie was Louis' daughter and not his. So, therefore, Griff has a grudge against Louis.
Skipping forward again, Callie finds Petra who had passed out from dehydration and they are both found by Ben. Ben sends Callie out of the forrest to get help and she does. When she gets back to her mother, she says one word...Ben. The first word she had said in 5 years. Petra's father was standing with Antonia and immediately thought Ben had been the one to abduct his daughter so he runs into the forrest and finds Ben standing next to an almost dead Petra. Petra's father jumps on Ben with all of his force and nearly kills Ben. The whole thing is eventually sorted out and The girls are taken out of the forrest and to the hospital. Callie finds her voice again and can't stop talking.
I really liked the layout of this book, because you read the book from each characters point of view. So, you knew everything that was going on but the characters didn't. I would rate this book at a 10/10 and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Book: October Sky
I am currently reading the book October Sky, a story of the life of Homer H. Hickam Jr. The book was originally entitled Rocket Boys and yes, the movie October Sky was based off of this book. This book is really good. I'm only about 150 pages in but it's still amazing. It tells about his struggles making rockets especially when his father doesn't approve of it. The book really emphasizes on how you need to follow your dreams no matter what anybody else tells you. It has some slow parts in the book but it always picks itself back up. I would, so far, rate this book at an 8 out of 10 because, like I said some parts can be rather boring, but it's still a really exciting book.

Movie: Black Beauty
Has anyone seen the movie Black Beauty? Yeah if you say 'no' consider yourself lucky. I had the unfortunate opportunity of seeing this movie when I was about 10 (my dad made me and my sister watch it). Besides not being able to understand anything that was going on it was really boring. The whole movie is basically about a pretty black pony who goes to a new owner. Then she goes to a new owner. Then she goes to another new owner. Get the point? The whole movie is the pretty black pony going from one owner to another. On a scale of 1 to 10, this movie ranks a 1.5, the only thing keeping this movie from being a 1 is how pretty the pony was.

Welcome
My blog is going to be reviews on an assortment of movies, books, and music. I will rate each book or movie on a scale from 1 (being the worst) to 10 (being the best). I will read approximately one book a week, depending on the length, and write what I thought of the book and whether I would recommend it to others.
